About the Club

The Veteran Horse, Pony & Riders Club (or VHPRC for short) is an encouraging and friendly BHS approved Riding Club based in the areas of Wick, Pucklechurch, Bridgeyate and surrounding areas. The VHPRC aims to promote the welfare and activities of veteran horses and ponies, as well as help and encourage mature riders. Each year we try to make donations to various charities, which are chosen by the members.

Members

We aim to cater for competitive and non-competitive riders, and have been successful in encouraging mature riders back into both pleasure riding and competition. The club aims to ensure that members have the opportunity to enjoy and improve their riding, with no pressure to ride beyond their wishes. We also welcome non-riding members who can enjoy and learn at the monthly meetings and visit and watch ridden events. The only ‘rules’ VHPRC stipulate for joining is that you are either 30 years of age and over, or your horse or pony is a veteran of 15 years or over.

Rallies

The club arranges ridden rallies, which are open to all members of all abilities—these are mainly held in the Bitton area. Ridden rallies emphasise on encouragement, support and most of all, fun!

Monthly Meetings & Events

These are held on the first Wednesday of the month at Bitton Football Club, Bath Road, Bitton BS30 6HX. There is usually an informative and interesting guest speaker and it’s a chance for members to get together, have a drink and share the most recent horsey problem! We also run other ridden and social events.

Points

Throughout the year a ‘points system’ is run and the members with the most points are announced at the AGM in January!
